Consultation on cost recovery arrangements
In line with Australian Government’s cost recovery policy requirements, the mechanism for setting fees and levies is through the preparation of a Cost Recovery Implementation Statement (CRIS).
Cost recovery arrangements for the OIR are regularly reviewed through the CRIS process to ensure that fees and levies are sufficient to allow delivery of regulatory functions under the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act 2021 (OEI Act).
The OIR is inviting licence holders and other industry participants to provide feedback on its revised CRIS by Monday, 18 May 2026.
The CRIS considers cost recovery arrangements including a reduction to the base annual levy for research and demonstration licences, introduction of a fee associated with the requirement to register plant designs and items of plant and updates to licence number assumptions.
